Originally, I only heard the most popular songs off of this album- Wake Me Up and Hey Brother. I showed them to my dad, who fell in love with the country feel of both of the songs, so he bought the album. For weeks, he played the album in his car, at work, and at home repetitiously. The songs grew on me, and eventually I loved them just as much as he did. We are quite impressed with how talented, young, and successful he is. This review will mainly be from my dad’s point of view, but I agree with him on almost everything.
His favorite song on the whole album is Liar Liar. He loves the powerful overtake of the chorus. I, on the other hand, found that switch of volume and tempo a bit too much. After hearing the song many more times, Liar Liar does settle better with me. It really is not a bad song.
The different singers in Liar Liar and Dear Boy sounded very similar to Lana Del Rey; in fact, I was surprised it was not her voice. Dear Boy sounds like something she would sing, with the taste of EDM.
Dear Boy and Lay Me Down are my favorite songs on the album. It is fun to sing with Karen Marie ├śrsted in Dear Boy, and the electronic solo is very enjoyable. Adam Lambert’s vocals definitely have a great impact on the tempo, but the boogie feel is the best part of the song.
One great aspect of this album is that the songs are so diverse. I give it a 5/5.

The Nerve of Some People

I visited Chicken Smoothie and found a signature of a young junior high-school aged girl who is proud to be “pro-life”, “against gay marriage”, and a “republican”. Not to mention, she is extremely fundamental.

Alright, I can reluctantly understand that you’re proud to be a Republican, but how can you be so proud to call yourself anti-choice and against gay marriage? I think anyone who acts this way does not see the selfishness and stupidity they display. By classifying yourself as anti-A-Z marriage and anti-choice, you are labeling yourself as a happiness revoker. You would rather keep two people from being happy or allow the possibility of an unloved child to be born just so you could promote your religious views?

I’m sure you find the murder unborn children and the act of anal sex to be disgusting, but I think taking away someone’s freedom of marriage or the liberation of children is horrendously repulsive.

This is a beautiful example of why we must continue the complete and absolute separation of church and state.

Note: If you are pro-life, then you are anti-war, anti-choice, and anti-anything that could possibly kill anyone. Considering the Republican party is typically pro-war, I am pretty sure you are not pro-life.

Dragon Cave: Valentine’s 2014

Dragon Cave had a wonderful Valentine’s Day event. There was a flower garden and people could plant seeds found randomly around the site. The majority of the seeds were orchids, irises, and gerbera daisies, but there were many exotic flowers as well. Some of my favorites were Dragon’s Head, the polka dot mushroom, Jack in the Pulpit, Rafflesia, and ???. I enjoyed seeing every flower and its variant in my garden and messages, however.

I would like to especially thank Keroshe, who brought the greatest flower war I have ever joined. I hope to contact them again somehow during the next holiday’s event, if I am around.

And just in case you, my reader, would like to see my dragons, my Dragon Cave user is Zillitor. or go to http://dragcave.net/user/Zillitor.

Body Fat

When was the last time you heard or said “I’m fat”? Was it from someone who looks average, skinny, or big? Was it from a male or female? It seems to be that females are more prone to be body conscious, for we have this mindset to fit into a size 4 or 6 and look a certain way. I think body insecurities are part of being human, but this evil force is fueled and amplified by the criticism of society. However, sometimes it may be in your best interest to lose weight, eat healthy, and/or keep your weight down. Continue reading

What’s On the Menu?

When I’m in the San Fernando neighborhood, there are a variety of places to eat. Here are some of my favorite restaurants.

Menudo is a big part of my life, so that is the only thing I eat at Graciana Mexican Restaurant and Rigo’s Tacos #3.

When I’m not eating menudo, I’m at these places eating something else.

Taco El Oso (currently not open)

  • Chile Relleno
  • Fish Tacos
  • Lengua Tacos (tongue)

Heavenly Pancakes (currently not open)

  • Anything on the Special menu
  • Philly Cheesesteak
  • Fish

Teriyaki House

  • Sashimi Salad
  • Uni (sea urchin)

Wendill’s Thai Restaurant

  • Beef Salad (without spiciness)

Casa Torres

  • Shrimp Fajita
  • Shrimp wrapped in cheese and bacon

There’s also a meat market on San Fernando Road that sells tacos at night for at least $1.25 and they come in many different meats. The atmosphere is great, and I feel bad that I have not been there in so long. I think it used to be called Rodriguez Meat Market, but they changed owners and I do not remember the name. At this place, I usually get 3 tacos. 1 is lengua, 1 is al pastor, and 1 is random. I’ve tried tacos de tripas, but I’m not big on them (which must be weird because I love menudo, yet it’s not the same flavor).

For many of these items (especially the Mexican items), I used the English name for it just in case you gringos want to order them.
